Toyota South Africa’s Athletics Club (Team Toyota) is set to lead the way at the weekend’s 2014 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon, with Russian twins Elena and Olesya Nurgalieva participating in Toyota colours.

Having both won this prestigious race before, the Nurgalieva sisters are feeling confident about their chances of setting the pace over the weekend. They will also participate for Team Toyota at the 2014 Comrades Marathon on 1 June 2014.

The 38-year old twins’ running CV speaks for itself with Elena boasting four Two Oceans and eight Comrades wins and Olesya finishing first at three Two Oceans marathons and twice at Comrades.

“We are delighted to welcome Elena and Olesya into our team and hope for some exciting results from them in both the Two Oceans and Comrades marathons,” said Kerry Roodt, General Manager: Marketing Communications at Toyota South Africa, adding that Nike has joined Team Toyota as an apparel sponsor.

Team Toyota’s effort will further be bolstered by the ‘Queen of Soweto’ Mamorallo Tjoka who has recovered from her injury and is hoping for a top 5 finish in Saturday’s race. Tjoka has won the grueling Soweto Marathan an unprecedented eight times and finished fourth in the 2013 Two Oceans event. The Toyota mens team boasts triple Comrades and one-time Two Oceans winner Stephen Muzinghi who is returning from injury sustained in his gold-medal run at the 2013 Comrades Marathon. He will be joined by the 2013 Comrades podium winner (3rd position), Mpesela Nlotsoeu and former All African Games marathon champion Johannes Kekana. Other Toyota male runners include Collen Makaza, Motlokoa Nkhabutlane, Tsotang Maine and Bethuel Netshihefhe.
