Active safety is all about preventing accidents from occurring in the first place - and Toyota's vision is one of "ZERO ACCIDENTS". The focus is on optimising basic functions (such as moving, turning and stopping), using state-of-the-art technology and advanced electronics. Key technologies include VSC, ABS and Brake Assist.

Passive safety focuses on protecting the occupants of the vehicle in the event of a crash. Our engineers use extensive accident data (from around the world), computer simulated collisions, as well as crash tests that demolish over 1,000 vehicles a year, in an ongoing quest to develop safer body structures, new devices to help protect occupants, and other ways to minimise injuries.
